This transformational week’s program and activities are designed to help you realize your healing potential. Known for his ability to explain the complex workings of the body in simple terms and entertaining examples, Dr. Klaper is recognized as a gifted teacher and insightful, experienced physician. His daily group teaching sessions and individual interchanges with participants will inspire you to new heights of health and vitality while setting the stage for you to experience more joy and fulfillment in life. Most of all, you will learn what it means to be a true healer and learn to bring powerful healing insights and energy to every situation in your life.

Highlights of our experience together will include morning and afternoon sessions with Dr. Klaper, yoga and meditation with Alese, a presentation on Compassionate Communication by Life and Communication Coach Lynn Komlenic, food preparation demonstrations, and a number of other fun activities including a water-movement class in the Mago pool and a night of stargazing under the spectacular Arizona skies!

Morning sessions with Dr. Klaper will focus on key aspects of the natural forces at work in the body and how to use them to optimize healing. These sessions will begin to answer the question: What do we do to help the body heal wounds, clear infections, and keep itself strong? Ways to prevent disease altogether – in yourself, in others, and in the world – will also be explored. Each morning’s exploration will be rich in practical medical knowledge and clinical insights distilled from Dr. Klaper’s 40+ years in active medical practice.
Afternoon sessions with Dr. Klaper will delve into the nature of healing itself. We will awaken and equip our own Inner Healer through sessions on The Physician’s EyeThe Healing Mindset, and The Heart of the Healer. Our investigations and discussions will result in a host of inspiring ideas and new confidence to aid you in assisting all in need of healing – from people to puppies to our own home, planet Earth.
Evening Program: We have films, stargazing, storytelling, and other learning adventures in store.

Alese Jones, yogaYoga and Meditation with Alese: Each day begins with the experience of meditation to open the heart, quiet the mind, and anchor an appreciation of the power of silence and stillness. This peaceful time is followed by a gentle yoga practice with Alese which will help us to release stress in the tissues while cultivating greater body awareness and mental focus.

On most days, Alese will offer Yin Yoga and Dharma Teaching in the late afternoon.

Alese’s teaching is grounded in over 25 years of experience of asana yoga and 10 years of meditation. She received her teacher’s certification in 1982, as well as a Yin/Mindfulness certification from Sarah Powers in 2000.

Alese recently produced a 66-minute, two class DVD, Yoga with Alese: Gentle Yoga and Chair Yoga.

Alese’s path is devoted to truth, love and service and to inspire her students to embrace a more conscious and awakened life. Alese will encourage you to explore your full potential in your yoga practice. She teaches it is vital to create a strong physical foundation so the mind can find rest and the spirit can be joyous. Her skilled approach and intuitive abilities make her classes rewarding and uniquely supportive for your life’s journey.

Lynn KomlenicHealing with Compassionate Communication with Lynn: In this compelling, mind-opening session, you will learn a practical, life-changing 4-Step Communication Process that will help you avoid pitfall relationship behaviors — such as judging, demanding, blaming, labeling, diagnosing, and thinking and speaking in terms of right and wrong — and assist you in activating the healing power of COMPASSION in your life, consistently and successfully.

Compassionate Communication, based on psychologist Marshall B. Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication (NVC), is proven to facilitate improved connection with oneself and others, to reduce and even alleviate emotional pain, and to support a focus on creating life-enhancing outcomes.

Lynn Komlenic has served as a Relationship & Communication Coach to individuals and groups for seven years, and is passionate about helping people live and speak authentically from the heart. Over her diverse career in the health and wellness field, Lynn has served as a top-level division manager at a major health insurance company, and as a business and editorial consultant to numerous small enterprises. She is a book editor and copywriter for nearly 20 years. In 2014, two books for which she served as both manuscript and managing editor won a total of six prestigious book awards—including a Gold Nautilus Book Award, a Gold Benjamin Franklin Book Award, and two Gold Living Now Book Awards. Lynn is a Certified Hippocrates Health Educator, schooled and practiced in the plant-based lifestyle for nearly 20 years.

Healing Nutrition: A full day devoted to healthy eating and how to use whole-food, plant-based nutrition as a keystone of any healing program. Simple, practical, and satisfying recipes are demonstrated with lots of tips and tasty sampling!

Beyond this dedicated day of learning about many of the delicious foods that can be used to heal and energize your body, consuming these vital, nourishing foods during our week together will awaken your enthusiasm and your senses, as well as the forces of healing within you! Not only will you be feeling lighter and more alive, you will experience, first-hand, the sheer delight of be supported by an optimally designed plant-based diet.

Delectable FOODS!…are a vitally important focus of our 7-day adventure; and we are planning on delighting your senses! This retreat features a delicious 100% plant-based menu with gluten-free options at every meal. As much as possible, we will use non-GMO, organic, local, and whole foods during our preparation. Often the produce at Mago is from their own 1.8-acre garden which grows a variety of items using organic practices.

Stargazing! Enjoy an awe-inspiring evening under bountiful starlit night skies. The dark desert landscape is one of nature’s best backdrops for stargazing. With the help of our knowledgeable guide (and a serenade from local coyotes), we will have a rare opportunity to glimpse our magnificent galaxy and relish in its calming yet exhilarating effect on mind, body and soul!

Sedona Excursion (Optional – $75/pp): Explore the spectacular scenery of Sedona’s Red Rocks by foot! Want to visit some breathtaking natural areas? Want to learn more about the geology, history and wildlife of the Southwest? Then join us on this ½-day, mid-week adventure in the magical and mysterious lands once inhabited by the first Americans. Join us and our guide to stretch your legs, breathe in some fresh air and take in the gorgeous natural lands of Arizona. Note: The excursion will take place during our daily scheduled free time; therefore, you will not be missing valuable program content by attending.

The magnificent Sedona Mago Retreat…is a beautifully landscaped grounds honoring Mother Earth’s treasure. Designed to work with the healing energy of Sedona, you can relax and rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit. The retreat center is thoughtfully designed for you to experience natural healing, spiritual awakening, and balanced living.

Mago’s retreat accommodations include 120 casita-style guest rooms decorated in a style conducive for relaxation and meditation. Each double casita features two comfortable full-size beds with plush coverings, a table and chairs, closet, mini-refrigerator, full bathroom/shower, and air conditioning/heating.

The casitas blend in comfortably with their natural surroundings staying cool inside during the spring and summer. To maintain the meditative environment, the rooms do not have televisions, phones or Wi-Fi. However, computers with Internet access are available in the lounge. Please note that Mago is an alcohol and smoke-free facility.

Come and experience the land that will touch your heart and awaken your soul. During our retreat, you will have plenty of time to explore the splendor of these healing grounds, which feature:

Outdoor Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi… Mago’s swimming pool and Jacuzzi are surrounded by majestic rock formations and stunning starlight views. It’s open year round, so bring your swimsuit and we will supply the pool towels.

Healing Garden and Lake… Mago’s beautifully landscaped lake, surrounded by trees, flowers, and aromatic herbs, is a haven for many wild birds.

Meditation Areas… Mago offers various meditation areas throughout their land, each having their own special energy.

Q: What airport should I fly into?

Sedona Mago Retreat is located 40 minutes southwest of downtown Sedona and 2.5 hours north of Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport (PHX). You can arrive by personal car or by booking shuttle services through Sedona Mago Resort.

Q: What information should I know when booking my travel?

Check-in begins at 3 pm on Saturday, May 16. Program goes through lunchtime on Friday, May 22.

Q: If I’m new to yoga, will I be able to participate?

Yes! Alese’s yoga classes are suitable for all levels and ages. Options will be given during yoga sequences for more advanced participants. Classes are designed to support your healing journey, and to enhance greater body awareness, and to meet any difficulties you may be hosting with compassion and wisdom.

Q: What if I need to cancel or cannot attend? What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel your reservation any time before the event AND if we can fill your place from the waiting list, your entire payment less a $200 processing fee will be refunded. However, if we cannot fill your space, then your payment will not be refunded.

Q: If I’m sending a check or money order via postal mail, how will I know my/our room is reserved?

As an alternative to registering online, you are also welcome to send payment via postal mail. After we receive your payment, contact information, and room preference (single or double occupancy) via postal mail, our Event Coordinator will contact you to confirm receipt and answer any questions.
